Thoughts on Thursday – Chartmaking

Here’s my dilemma….I feel like I want a better way to create charts The photo above shows my current method. While it works, it’s certainly not the best. Especially  if I plan on sharing them with my blog readers. I found this chart-making site called Stitch Fiddle. I “fiddled around” and made this chart…. diamond brocade – stitch fiddle . I really liked how quickly the chart went together and how it printed up. But. I know that in order to make the best use of their service I would have to upgrade from their free service to their premium service. So here’s the questions for my readers….

  1. Does anyone use Stitch Fiddle’s premium service? What have been the pros and cons you’ve found?
  2. Does anyone use another chart-making service? What have you found that works best for you?
  3. Does anyone know of a good chart-making software?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday – A Sparkly Close to You

We’re nearing the “halfway point” on the Sparkly Close to You Shawl. I’m using Lion Brand’s Shawl in a Ball Metallic in the Cleansing Quartz colorway. I’m really enjoying the knitting on this shawl. There’s just enough going on to keep the knitting from getting boring, but also easy enough to be able to memorize what goes on in each row (you know, so you don’t have to constantly be referring back to the pattern…..).

How’s your summer knitting coming along?

Happy Knitting!

WIP Wednesday – A New (Sparkly) Shawl

Since I bound off my Sparkly Triangle Shawl (there will be pictures soon…..), I decided to cast-on another shawl. Recently, The Midnight Knitter (of Yarn, Books & Roses) posted she was working on a Close to You Shawl. That looked like a fun knit, so, I cast-on using my other skein of Sparkly Shawl-in-a-Ball yarn (Cleansing Quartz color). For whatever reason, I’m really enjoying knitting shawls right now and this pattern is a definite winner!

What are you working on right now? Cast-on anything new?

Happy Knitting!
